Associate Front End Developer, Marketing Site

The web development team is a lean-yet-mighty group within the Marketing org. We are responsible for the development and maintenance of all of Fastly's public facing web properties. This includes some of our biggest, most impactful efforts, like Fastly.com, Fastly Labs, and communal hubs for our developer audience as well as more targeted projects like email templates and event registrations sites. As an Associate Front End Developer, you will need to understand the deep connection between project goals, creative execution, and final production. You will collaborate regularly with design and content teams by taking their source files, and building them into production-ready code utilizing our JAMstack-based stack with Jekyll and Gatsby. You will be key in telling the Fastly story through a high-fidelity, responsive and performant web experience.

What You'll Do

Work closely with multiple teams to bring new product launches, marketing campaigns, and events from whiteboard to production.

Build web experiences in HTML5, CSS3, and ES6.

Handle content updates through our CMS, Contentful.

Build HTML templates from design source files.

What We're Looking For

High proficiency with HTML5, CSS, JavaScript.

Familiarity with UI/UX patterns, responsive design, and standard methodologies.

A keen eye for good design and copywriting.

Comfortable navigating Unix/Linux systems via terminal.

Working knowledge of Git and CI/CD systems such as Travis, Gitlab, etc.

An attention to detail and dedication to quality.

A teammate with the ability to establish trusted relationships with internal partners.

Comfortable contributing strategically as well as leading day-to-day tactical execution.

Open, positive attitude towards change and personal development.

Proactive and driven to make an impact.

Clear, thoughtful communicator (verbal and written).

Bonus Points

Experience with static site generators

Experience with Ruby, Node.js, or React

Experience with Adobe Illustrator or Sketch

Familiarity with Varnish (VCL)

Understanding of the HTTP request/response cycle
